Farrier Relief Fund

UPDATE: Donations from Farrier Relief Fund are Distributed

(Lexington, Kentucky) The American Farrier's Association is pleased to announce that the monies collected from farriers, AFA supporters, Board members, and Chapters has been distributed to the AFA farriers in need. Over $17,000 was collected and distributed to eleven farriers in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Comments from those receiving distribution checks:

March 23, 2006 - Hi Folks - We're finally back online since Katrina visited us. There's not much room in a FEMA trailer for a desk top, so I finally got around to building a storage shed with enough room for our PC. I just want to say THANK YOU ALL so very much for the phone calls, e-mails, cards, and support that everyone sent. I can say that some of the first people to help were farriers. My wife made the statement, "Wow you sure have a lot of friends!" And that I do.

I am honored and proud to be a member of the American Farrier's Association.

As it stands now we are in the rebuild process. We have contractors working on a new barn, and getting them lined up on starting the foundation for the house. It's hard to get things going, everyone is busy and backed up with work.

My shoeing business is back to normal, and picking up. Seems there is just not enough hours in the day.

With much appreciation, David Hodges, CJF (President, Southern Farriers Association)

January 11, 2006 -  I received your check today, would like to say thanks to all members. What a surprise! It will help pay for furniture we desperately need. It is a  blessing, especially coming from your fellow farriers. Thanks to all, Milton Reggio CJF

January 11, 2006 - I would like to thank all of the members and friends of the American Farrier's Association for  the donation.  It is very much appreciated and is in time to be put to good use.  Thank You Again. John E. Argus, Jr., CJF and Jeanette Argus

January 12, 2006 - Thanks for the helping had up!  Your check is a big help for me and all other AFA members hurt by Katrina & Rita.  This is just one example of why our membership is so great.  We may fuss & fight, but if one of the group gets hurt in any way, we are there to help.  First it was with manpower and then with financal aid.  Thanks again for all you do. Richard Fanguy, CJF

January 22, 2006 - On behalf of the AFA please accept our thanks for the donation check. Due to Hurricane Katrina we have decided to relocate to North Carolina. Since my wife is in nursing school and I am in the process of rebuilding a new clientele the money we received has indeed been a blessing. Aily & Joanne Ledet

January 23, 2006 - I just want to thank the American Farrier's Association for the generous donation. I hope you know how much it will help us and how much it means to me that you care. Jules Domingue, CJF
